Nick Kyrgios continued his feud with Boris Becker with a low blow about the German’s criminal past. The pair have been feuding on X (formerly known as Twitter) in recent days and their spat took a nasty turn when the Australian brought up Becker’s bankruptcy-related charges. The 56-year-old spent eight months in prison last year after he was found guilty following a trial at Southward Crown Court.
Kyrgios and Becker are currently embroiled in a spat, which started when the 28-year-old used the six-time Grand Slam champion as an example when claiming that former tennis stars were no match for today’s players. The German hit back by claiming that Kyrgios was making “a lot of noise” when he hadn’t won a Major singles title.
He has since given a new interview claiming that Kyrgios would not be making a living from tennis were it not for the old champions. And the former world No 13 took their feud to new heights on Tuesday when he referred to Becker’s criminal conviction in response to the comments.
“Uhhh what? I’ve been arguably one of the most watched players outside the big three the last decade? Fans around the world and have brought so many more people to the sport. I’ve created my own stuff off the court,” Kyrgios started.

Just in Emma Raducanu advised of drastic action that could kickstart her career[LATEST]
The 2022 Wimbledon runner-up took a swipe at Becker as he added: “Try to not hide any more assets x”. The former coach of Novak Djokovic was imprisoned in April last year after he was found guilty of four charges under the Insolvency Act, having been accused of hiding assets in relation to his bankruptcy.
Kyrgios also reposted other quotes from Becker’s interview and shared another post, claiming he was the one bringing in more money for his fellow players. The Australian wrote: “Bro what. I’ve been one of the FEW PLAYERS that have brought million more fans to the sport and have made more money for everyone. NETFLIX…. Don’t remember seeing Boris on there. Guy is ridiculous. I’ve made my career off the court without the help of the others.”
It comes after Becker told Eurosport’s Das Gelbe vom Ball podcast: “We live in a democracy. Everyone can think what he wants. You have to have respect for the past and simply say ‘thank you’ out loud that these old pros existed, because without them the tennis circus would no longer exist.

“I did play a bit in the 80s, but there was [Stefan] Edberg, [Mats] Wilander. The 90s were [Andre] Agassi, [Pete] Sampras. All these players make it possible for Nick Kyrgios not to play tennis at all this year and still be able to make a living from tennis.”
Kyrgios had previously claimed that the current crop of tennis stars were superior to their predecessors. “The game was so slow back then. I’ve watched Boris Becker and I’m not saying they weren’t good in their time, but to say that they would be just as good now, it’s absurd,” he told The Athletic.
Becker is yet to respond to Kyrgios’ latest jibe about his criminal charges but the former world No 1 previously tweeted: “Nick makes a lot of noise about tennis lately!?! Why does he speak about a sport he apparently hates… fact-check Nick has never won a major championship as a player or coach (yes doubles 1) so where is any credibility coming from?”
