There are just four days left of the summer transfer window and things are really heating up ahead of Friday night’s deadline. After a manic few months, we are now quickly approaching the endgame and still the majority of Premier League clubs believe there is work to be done in the market.
Manchester United could be among those most active after Luke Shaw’s injury forced them into action while Erik ten Hag is also after a new goalkeeper and midfield reinforcements.
Chelsea and Liverpool are still expected to strengthen come the close of play on September 1 while Arsenal and Tottenham are focusing their efforts on outgoings.
Premier League clubs will also have to combat the potential challenges faced by the Saudi Arabian transfer window which is not due to close until September 20.
Express Sport has you covered with all the latest transfer news, gossip and done deals on Tuesday, August 29.
United target Lyon defender
Fabrizio Romano is reporting that United are looking at Nicolas Tagliafico as part of their search for a new left-back.
Shaw’s injury and the absence of Tyrell Malacia means United are down to bare bones on the left side of defence.
Marc Cucurella, Sergio Reguilon and Marcos Alonso are all admired but Erik ten Hag is also keen on a reunion with his former Ajax player.
Ten Hag has already signed Tagliafico’s old team-mates Antony, Lisandro Martinez and Andre Onana and now the Argentine could be handed the chance to join forces with the Dutchman once again at Old Trafford.
Chelsea consider Smith-Rowe move
Chelsea are weighing up a shock swoop for Emile Smith Rowe according to The Mail.
The Arsenal attacker has fallen desperately out of favour in north London and now the Blues could look to capitalise by launching a surprise move.
The Blues want attacking reinforcements and ideally, players that can create chances for Chelsea’s forwards.
Smith Rowe is among the names of interest but it’s unclear whether Arsenal would be prepared to sell to a direct rival.
Liverpool eye Felix if Salah leaves
The Sun claim Joao Felix would be of interest to Liverpool if Mohamed Salah joins Al Ittihad.
It must be noted that currently looks unlikely although the Saudi transfer window does not close until September 20.
Salah played for Liverpool in their dramatic 2-1 win at Newcastle on Sunday and does not seem likely to depart Anfield in the near future.
Meanwhile, Felix can leave Atletico Madrid with Barcelona among those keen on landing the former Chelsea loanee.
