Tottenham are considering triggering a one-year extension clause in Son Heung-Min’s contract, according to reports.

Following the summer transfer saga that surrounded Harry Kane, who had just 12 months remaining on his deal in the north London, the club will be looking to avoid a repeat in the future.

And, in a bid to do so, Spurs are reportedly keen on extending the deal of Son – who’s current contract will run until 2025.

According to The Telegraph, Tottenham want to look to spare themselves any chances of another transfer saga by triggering a one-year extension in his deal.

The South Korean has been one the Spurs’ standout players in recent years and recently earned the captain’s armband at the club – following Hugo Lloris’ desire to leave north London.

Since taking the armband, Son has impressed under Ange Postecoglou and has three goals from his opening five games – thanks to a hat-trick against Burnley.

Since joining Tottenham from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015, Son has scored an impressive 148 goals from 377 appearances in all competitions.

The winger was recently spotted with Arsenal star Bukayo Saka at a Burberry fashion show just days before the north London derby.

The two teams will lock horns for the first time this season at the Emirates on Sunday with one of the Premier League’s fiercest rivalries set to resume.

However, it appears the days of opposition players preparing to wage war against one another are long gone as Saka and Son sat next to each other during an appearance at the London fashion week.

Son joined designer brand Burberry as an ambassador last year and was representing the fashion label at the iconic fashion show as they showcased their Spring Summer 2024 collection.

The winger also appeared at a recent Tottenham fan forum alongside chairman Daniel Levy, manager Ange Postecoglou, women’s manager Robert Vilahamn and women’s team captain Beth England.

The 31-year-old has spent nine years at Tottenham and scored 148 goals during that period

During which, Levy admitted that he made a ‘mistake’ in appointing Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte at the club.

‘I want to win as much as everybody else, but the frustration of not winning and the pressure from maybe some players and from a large element of the fanbase, that we need to win, we need to spend money, we need to have a big manager, we need to have a big name, it affected me,’ he said.

‘I had gone through a period where we’d almost won. With Mauricio we went through some very good times. We didn’t quite get there but we came very close and we had a change in strategy.

‘The strategy was let’s bring in a trophy manager. We did it twice and look you have to learn from your mistakes. They’re great managers but maybe not for this club’.
