THE GREAT DEBATE: Should the Chelsea v Wolves match date currently scheduled for Christmas Eve be changed?
- The Premier League announced the date for the Molineux clash on Thursday
- This is the first time in 28 years a fixture has been played on this festive date
- Chelsea Supporters’ Trust called the announcement ‘totally unacceptable’
Chelsea will travel to Wolves on Christmas Eve after the finalisation of the Premier League’s festive fixtures list, it was revealed on Thursday.
Whilst fixtures during the Christmas period are usually scheduled on Boxing Day and New Year’s Eve, their clash will be the first to take place the day before Christmas for 28 years.
The unusual scheduling has sparked a wave of critcism, with many arguing that the lengthy journey for fans of the west London club travelling to the Midlands will take people away from their families, and some calling on the league to reconsider.
