Erik ten Hag believes that Mason Mount can play a big part for Manchester United.
The midfielder joined United from Chelsea in the summer but after featuring early in the season, he then suffered an injury that kept him out for five games.
Although he has yet to score or provide an assist in the league this season, Ten Hag is pleased with the contribution that Mount has made following his return to the side and feels that there is more to come from the 24-year-old.
Ten Hag told United’s official website: ‘He can be a big part [of what we are creating here].
‘He can play in that game by supplying, making the connections, making the link-ups for those in the front line.

‘He has abilities to give that [energy] and to supply our front players by combinations.’
In addition to his creative attributes, Ten Hag stressed that Mount is also capable of helping the team with his work off the ball.
He said: ‘Also in his moments of defence transition, in defending and pressing he can be and he is already a great player for us because he puts a lot of effort in.
‘When we get better connections [in the team], that will grow.’
United’s inconsistency continued in midweek when they lost 3-2 at home to Galatasaray in the Champions League, with that result following on from 1-0 defeat against Crystal Palace in the Premier League.
Ten Hag will be eager for his team to return to winning ways when they host Brentford on Saturday.
Mount registered his first assist for United in their victory over Palace in the Carabao Cup last month.

During his time at Chelsea Mount made 195 appearances and scored 33 goals, while he provided 37 assists.
He was part of the Chelsea side that won the Champions League in 2021.
Mount wasn’t included in the latest England squad for games against Australia and Italy. He will be looking to impress for United so that he can return to the national team setup.
