Gareth Southgate is set to step down as England manager, with the FA eyeing Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola as his replacement.
Southgate has overseen one of the most succesful periods in English football history, leading his side to a World Cup semi-final in 2018 and the Euro 2020 final – which England lost to Italy on penalties.
However, Southgate only has one more tournament left on his current deal, which expires in December 2024. And, according to the Daily Mail, Southgate will stand down as the Three Lions boss when his contract expires after Euro 2024.
And the FA are hoping to are lure Guardiola to the job, with his current City deal expiring in 2025.

Handing Guardiola the job could be difficult immedielty after Euro 2024, with Guardiola still having one year left on his contract. However, the FA are reportedly willing to test City.
Guardiola is seen as the 'dream' of the FA. And his public support of Catalan independence might create barriers when it comes to landing the top job in Spain.

As a result, the FA are hoping the prospect of international management will be enough to attract Guardiola, who has won everything at club level, to the England job.
The City boss would be the first non-English manager be appointed by the FA since Fabio Capello in 2008. Capello, himself, remains the only non-English boss to take charge of the Three Lions.
Speaking in 2021, he admitted: "The next step will be a national team, if the opportunity presents itself. I must take a break after seven years (at Manchester City).
"I need to stop and look, learn from other coaches and then maybe take that path. I would like to coach in a European Championship, a Copa America, a World Cup."
