Celtic fans feared the worst after Kyogo Furuhashi was knocked unconscious in an vicious collision with Aberdeen's Slobodan Rubezic.
The Japan forward was flattened after clashing heads with Rubezic at the start of the second half of their Scottish Premiership tie on Sunday, and the impact was so nasty that Kyogo appeared to be out cold before he hit the ground. Rubezic escaped with just a yellow while Kyogo, who fortunately avoided serious injury, was subbed off for safety reasons.
According to the BBC, the Celtic ace was so incensed by the reckless challenge that he refused to shake Rubezic's hand after the game. Fans on social media were similarly outraged, with dozens left flabbergasted that a red card wasn't produced, and some even calling for retrospective punishment to be handed out.

"You won't see a more dangerous challenge all season, could have killed him," one supporter wrote. Another said: The clearest red you’ll ever see. What is VAR doing?"
A third added: "In another reality Kyogo is fighting for his life in hospital right now or even worse. Dereliction of care and duty by the ref and VAR for not stopping this happening again by allowing the offender to stay on the park." A fourth claimed: "Needs to be retrospectively banned."
Should Rubezic have been sent off? Let us know in the comments section below.
Others, however, argued there was no intent from Rubezic to harm Kyogo and that accidental collisions were part of the game. One wrote: "Gets the ball first. Unfortunate injury but clearly not intentional."
Another said: "Dangerous yes but no intent, he was going for the ball. That shouldn't be a straight red. Shame what happened though, hope he recovers quickly, never a good thing to see."

Kyogo got the last laugh as Celtic ran out 6-0 winners. He scored the second goal of the game as Brendan Rodgers' men put their 6-0 Champions League humiliation at the hands of Atletico Madrid behind them by inflicting the same punishment on the Dons.
