Ryan Reynolds has paid towards the medical bills of ex-Wrexham star Martyn Chalk who suffered a serious injury out in Thailand – despite never having met him before.
The Wrexham co-owner, alongside Hollywood A-lister Rob McElhenney, bought the club back in 2020, with the Welsh based side managing to return to the Football League after winning the National League last term.
Despite having only just come up, Wrexham currently sit second in League Two, and look a certainty to be involved in at least the play-off conversation this term. Since their arrival at the club, Reynolds and McElhenney have always tried to ensure that the community surrounding Wrexham know they are in this venture for the long haul.

And as a result of trying to continue their efforts to ingratiate themselves to the Wrexham fans, not that they really need to after having overseen a transformation at the club, Reynolds has dipped into his own pocket to donate £1,000 to former Red Dragons player Martyn Chalk.
Chalk starred for Wrexham between 1995 and 2002, making over 100 appearances for the club during that time. Recently, the 54-year-old was involved in a road traffic collision in Thailand, where he will be for the next two months as he begins his recovery from the accident, which has left him with multiple fractures and a broken femur.

Reynolds donated £1,000 to Chalk's gofundme page, which was launched by Wrexham Legends chairman Jon Morris. With a target of £3,500 set, Reynolds' bumped gesture has helped the gofundme total to reach £2,718, as of Friday afternoon.
"I just want to thank everyone who has donated and shared the page so far," said Morris about the donations to Chalk's fund. "We're blown away by the support and I know Martyn will be too. Please keep sharing. We're sending Martyn all our love and support during this difficult time."

And it's safe to say football fans on social media were effuse in their praise of Reynolds for donating the cash to someone he had never met.
One fan wrote: "Once again, an amazing gesture to someone he’s probably never met. Best owners in the world bar none." A second added: "Proper people, proper club."
And a third said: "What a guy. Hasn't played for the club in 20 years and being cared and acknowledged by the new era owners."
