How Sadio Mane helped new Man City star Jeremy Doku snub Liverpool and anger Jurgen Klopp
Salah penned a three-year contract extension last summer. He still has two years remaining on that deal, meaning it would take a huge offer to tempt Liverpool to sell their star man.
Al-Ittihad are one of the clubs brought under the ownership of the Saudi Public Investment Fund several months ago. Their manager, the former Tottenham boss Nuno Espirito Santo, is reportedly said to be keen on a move.
It is claimed that club representatives met with Salah’s entourage in Dubai to discuss a potential deal. Jurgen Klopp does not want to lose his best player and will do everything to prevent the transfer from happening.

That is according to Spanish publication Relevo, who say that Al-Ittihad are prepared to make Salah the latest star to join the Saudi riches. The 31-year-old would join the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo in moving to the Middle East nation.
Should the deal happen, he would also line up alongside former Liverpool team-mate Fabinho, the Real Madrid icon Karim Benzema and ex-Chelsea star N’Golo Kante. All three players made the switch to Al-Itthad ahead of the 2023-24 season.
The report adds that part of Salah’s desire to test out the culture in Saudi Arabia is his religious beliefs. A devout Muslim, Salah it is claimed that his religion would be an ‘important factor’ in his decision-making process.
Liverpool will not allow a transfer to happen easily, especially with their Premier League campaign already underway. Klopp would face finding a replacement for one of the top-flight’s best players. The Reds have already lost Fabinho and Jordan Henderson to Saudi Arabia this summer and are in the midst of a major overhaul.

Salah has been crucial in the opening weeks of the Premier League campaign. He assisted Luis Diaz’s strike in the 1-1 draw with Chelsea on the opening weekend of the season.
He then opened his account for the term by scoring in the 3-1 win over Bournemouth last weekend. The report also comes just two weeks after one of Salah’s representatives, Ramy Abbas Issa insisted the winger wanted to stay.
Responding to reports of a switch to Saudi Arabia on August, 7, he tweeted: “If we considered leaving LFC this year, we wouldn’t have renewed the contract last summer. Mohamed remains committed to LFC.”
