Lionel Messi thinks Inter Miami should make a move for Real Madrid icon Luka Modric during the next transfer window.
Modric has fallen down the pecking order at Real Madrid, with Carlo Ancelotti starting him on the bench for four out of six LaLiga fixtures this season.
The midfielder has vowed to work hard to win back his place in the starting XI, but opportunities are hard to come by for the 38-year-old given the depth in squad.
Therefore, Messi believes it would be mutually beneficial for Inter Miami to purchase Modric during the January transfer window.
According to former Real Madrid forward Pedja Mijatovic, Messi thinks Modric would be well suited to the league.

As a result, Messi has approached Inter Miami’s co-owner David Beckham to discuss the potential transfer swoop.
Speaking to Cadena SER, Mijatovic said: ‘He [Modric] has received offers from the United States, from many teams and from this one in particular.’
Mijatovic went on to add: ‘He [Modric] already had the one in Saudi Arabia but he wanted to stay in Madrid.
‘Messi himself has personally been interested in the possibility. In Croatia, a few days ago, Modric met Beckham, where they were eating.’
A move to Inter Miami could be appealing to Modric given his lack of pitch-time at Real Madrid this season.
Real Madrid is stacked with talented young players, including Rodrygo, Vinicius Jr, Aurelien Tchouameni, Eduardo Camavinga, Federico Valverde and Jude Bellingham.
The latter has slotted seamlessly into the Spanish team following his high-profile move from Borussia Dortmund in the summer.
Therefore, competitions for places is high and Modric is falling further down the pecking order under Ancelotti given the youth at his disposal.

However, Modric told Croatian newspaper Sportske Novosti that he was prepared to stay at the club and fight for his place.
HE said: ‘Nobody is happy when they don’t play. After the career I’ve had, it’s an especially strange feeling for me. But the coach decided that, for his own reasons.
‘My only condition for staying was to be treated as a competitive player, and not to be kept in the squad on the basis of past merits.
‘I am completely calm. I’m aware that I have to work hard and sooner or later everything will fall into place.’
Modric went on to discuss the competition he faces at Real Madrid. He said: ‘These young guys are top players, that’s why they’re at Real.
‘We veterans must help them progress and gradually take over the starting roles at the level that this club is looking for.’
