Ten Hag insists Rashford ready to play for Man Utd in Copenhagen
Casemiro is among the players whom Manchester United are considering for contract extensions in the coming months despite Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s concerns over the signing, according to reports. United are said to be preparing plans for the January transfer window, while Erik ten Hag wants to continue moulding his current squad.
The Red Devils completed a £70million deal to sign Casemiro from Real Madrid last summer after failing in a window-wide pursuit of Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong.
Many baulked at the mammoth transfer fee, given he was already 30 when he arrived at Old Trafford.
But Casemiro silenced the doubters with a sensational maiden season in England, helping United to Carabao Cup glory and a third-place Premier League finish, sealing a Champions League return.
Those concerns have re-emerged this term, though, with the 31-year-old failing to replicate his form, sparking unease that Ten Hag splashed £70m for just one season in return.
United handing Casemiro a four-year contract, with the option of a further year, suggested they didn’t believe that would be the case.
Imminent investor Sir Jim reportedly cited the signing of Casemiro when criticising United’s transfer strategy during his visit to Old Trafford and the club’s Carrington training base in March.

However, somewhat surprising fresh reports claim he could be in line for new terms already.
According to the Mail, United will consider offering contract extensions to some members of Ten Hag’s squad in the coming months.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s negotiations over a new deal in M16 have been widely documented and are said to be slowly progressing.
United are also exploring whether Raphael Varane wants to extend his stay. And the report claims Casemiro is another option being weighed up behind the scenes despite his uninspired form this season.
Ten Hag has confirmed that he doesn’t expect to have Casemiro back at his disposal until after Christmas, adding to his relentless injury woes.

But the Brazil captain couldn’t contribute much in his recent appearances, adding to United’s midfield frustrations in recent months.
Casemiro saw red against Galatasaray in his last Champions League appearance due to a last-man foul after Andre Onana’s misplaced pass.
Ten Hag then hooked him at half-time while United were 1-0 down against Brentford in the Premier League and 2-0 down against Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup fourth round.
Suggestions that he is in for a new deal at Old Trafford should be taken with a pinch of salt at this stage. Such a decision would represent very little logic.
