Bayern Munich reportedly have no interest in currently signing Casemiro in a major boost to Manchester United, although the German club are said to be considering an approach for Raphael Varane. United are without Casemiro until January after he suffered a hamstring injury against Newcastle earlier this month.
The Brazilian may have been out of form to start the season, but he remains a crucial part of Erik ten Hag’s midfield. The 31-year-old was crucial for United last season in anchoring the midfield and providing cover in front of the defensive unit.
Bayern are reportedly on the lookout for a deep-lying midfielder in the New Year and it had been suggested that Casemiro was on their list of targets. However, Sky Germany claim the Bundesliga club currently have no interest in signing Casemiro in a potential boost to Ten Hag.
Trying to replace a player like Casemiro midway through the season would be a massive challenge for United with defensive midfielders an expensive commodity at the moment. Chelsea set the benchmark this summer when they splashed out a record £115million fee on Moises Caicedo.
Not having to concern themselves with potentially losing Casemiro upon his return will be a huge relief to United. However, Bayern are still said to be interested in doing business with United in January with a move for Varane touted.
Thomas Tuchel is said to be keen on bolstering his defensive options in the New Year with Barcelona star Ronald Araujo their ‘preferred candidate’. Varane is also said to be in Bayern’s ‘sights’ with the Frenchman struggling for minutes under Ten Hag.

With Varane being dropped from United’s starting line-up in the Premier League, reports have emerged of a falling out between the defender and his manager. However, Ten Hag refuted any suggestion that he was not seeing eye-to-eye with the 2018 World Cup winner.
“Raphael Varane: I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Ten Hag said. “It’s rumours. Very important player, but there’s internal competition and there should be at a top club, as we are.
“And when you decide on two players who do brilliant – Raphael Varane and Harry Maguire – you also have to make a choice for that position.”
