Liechtenstein managed to end their 15-month wait for a goal thanks to simply jaw-dropping strike from midfielder Sandro Wolfinger in their EURO 2024 qualifier against Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Heading into the Friday night clash, Liechtenstein had not scored a goal since July 2022, when they lost to Andorra 2-1 in a UEFA Nations League contest.
However, that all changed on 21 minutes when Wolfinger unfurled an outrageous full volley effort from outside the box. With the ball having been cleared away from a corner, Wolfinger found himself presented with the perfect opportunity to end Liechtenstein's goalscoring drought.
Racing onto the ball, the midfielder struck it on the full volley, leaving Bosnia's keeper Ibrahim Sehic rooted to the spot as it flew into the net, prompting wild scenes from Wolfinger and his team-mates.

Unfortunately however, the wondrous strike counted for nothing, with Liechtenstein losing the contest 2-1. Prior to Wolfinger's volley, Liechtenstein were trailing 2-0, having conceded to former Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko after just three minutes.
Then on 18 minutes, an own goal from Liechtenstein's Simon Luchinger doubled Bosnia's lead, with Dzeko and co managing to hold on to secure all three points. And it was a win they desperately needed too in Group J.
