Manchester United are set to receive a loan offer from Al-Ettifaq for Jadon Sancho, according to reports.
Manchester United news, exclusives and analysis
Erik ten Hag has been unhappy with Sancho’s effort levels in training and made his feelings clear after United’s 3-1 defeat to Arsenal on Sunday.
‘On his performance on training we didn’t select him,’ Ten Hag said.
‘You have to reach the level every day at Manchester United. You can make choices in the front line, so in this game he wasn’t selected.’
Sancho quickly hit back at Ten Hag’s accusation and said the United manager had made him a ‘scapegoat’ in a statement on Instagram.
According to CBS Sports, Al-Ettifaq are keen to offer Sancho an escape route and have now opened talks over the possibility of signing the United winger on loan.
The Saudi Pro League side, who are managed by Steven Gerrard, are also said to be open to making any loan deal permanent.
Al-Ettifaq have already signed Jordan Henderson, Georginio Wijnaldum, Demarai Gray and the former Celtic striker Moussa Dembele this summer.
The Saudi Pro League transfer window closes on September 7 at 10pm GMT.
Al-Ettifaq have registered three wins, one draw and a defeat from their opening five league games this season.
