Pep Guardiola believes Arsenal will offer up more chances than Wolves last week as Manchester City look to avoid consecutive Premier League defeats for the first time in five years.
City’s title defence started with six wins before a shock reverse last Saturday halted the positive momentum after Guardiola’s side were stifled at Molineux.
Phil Foden revealed earlier this week that City have to ‘put up’ with opposition sitting in and Guardiola will hope they feel liberated by a more open game at the Emirates on Sunday.
‘The approach from Wolves is different from Arsenal, Wolves defended from minute one, their striker went with holding midfielder and 11 players in their box. Arsenal do man marking sometimes, which sometimes allows you to do your process. But after they are so aggressive, they have clear patterns.’
City are in north London without Rodri, serving the third match of his suspension, and the Spaniard has been allowed a holiday.
‘He’s one of the best in the world so his influence is big,’ the City boss added. ‘Always we’ve handled absences. Sometimes when Manchester City lose the game and this is the story, the news then we are on a good path.’
