Luis Diaz could be Liverpool's star player this season
Saudi Arabia are reportedly set to launch their first formal attempt to sign Liverpool star Mohamed Salah, despite the Reds’ stance that he is not for sale following Sunday’s 2-1 win over Newcastle. Al-Ittihad are planning to bring Salah to the Middle East to join big-name stars such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar and Karim Benzema, despite Liverpool having just a few days left of the transfer window should they decide to accept the bid. Express Sport has looked at how exactly the Saudi club is trying to tempt Salah into leaving Anfield.
Bonuses as part of £128m bid
CBS Sports have claimed that Al-Ittihad are preparing an all-in bid of £128million to Liverpool in order for them to part ways with their star man. It would be a record transfer fee for the Saudi Pro League, eclipsing the £77m Al-Hilal spent to sign Neymar from Paris Saint-Germain earlier this month.
However, just £85m of that bid is guaranteed for Liverpool. The remaining £43m could be achieved through performance-related bonuses, but not all of them have been described as easily attainable.
Liverpool having a chance of only receiving £85m for Salah would likely discourage them from selling, after Jurgen Klopp’s frosty response to the idea and club icon Jamie Carragher explaining that not even £100m would allow the Reds to replace Salah, Al-Ittihad may need to revise their offer.

Cristiano Ronaldo promise
As the league’s record signing, Salah would expect to be paid on par with their biggest names such as Ronaldo and Neymar. The pair are reportedly earning £171m-a-year including bonuses and endorsements, while Al-Ittihad hope that package would be enough to convince Salah to leave England.
He is currently earning a reported £350,000-a-week at Anfield as the club’s highest earner, but the salary offered in Saudi would engulf his current wage – having been promised to earn at least as much as Ronaldo and Neymar.
Their pitch to sign Salah has come so late in the window partially due to being awarded the Club World Cup in June. With Saudi set to host the tournament and keen to make a major impact against top European teams, Salah could be a difference-maker.

Plan for Salah’s team-mates
Al-Ittihad have already made a big splash in the transfer window, as the league leaders have signed Benzema, N’Golo Kante, Jota and Salah’s former team-mate Fabinho. However, there are plans for further signings to pair with the Egyptian upon his arrival.
The club are keen on improving their defence in addition to Salah, as former Real Madrid and PSG star Sergio Ramos is an option – having been turned down in their pursuits of Manchester United’s Raphael Varane and Arsenal centre-back Gabriel.
Though the league’s window remains open until September 7, nearly a week after the Premier League’s market closes.
