Harry Kane may have ‘cursed’ Bayern as 5-1 drubbing puts run of titles in danger

Harry Kane and Bayern Munich were handed their first defeat of the Bundesliga season after they were dismantled 5-1 by Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday afternoon.

The first half of the season in Germany has seen Kane and Co battling at the top of the table with Xabi Alonso's Bayer Leverkusen, who themselves have yet to lose a single game this term.

Heading into their clash against Frankfurt, the England skipper and his team-mates knew they would jump back to the top of the table with a win, leapfrogging Leverkusen on goal difference. However, what followed was a walloping from Frankfurt, who had wrapped up the game on the hour mark with their fifth goal of the afternoon.

And in doing so, they lost ground on Leverkusen, who now sit three points clear of Bayern ahead of their Sunday afternoon tie against Stuttgart. Of course, when the German giants signed Kane, it seemed as though it would be a formality that come the end of the season Bayern would be celebrating their Bundesliga title win wildly with massive steins of beer.

However, with them having already been dumped out of the DFB Pokal by third-tier side Saarbrucken, and are now have a title fight on their hands, some football fans on social media are wondering whether Kane – who won zero pieces of silverware with Tottenham – might actually be cursed when it comes to winning trophies.

And a fifth said: "It's now scientifically proven: Harry kane was cursed by a gypsy to not win any title, and he brought the curse to Bayern."

However, one competition where Bayern do look impervious so far this season is the Champions League, with Thomas Tuchel's side yet to have lost in the competition.

And on Tuesday, they will look to put the cherry on top of their group stage performances when they travel to Old Trafford to face Manchester United, having already qualified for the knockout stages.
