English football stopped to remember fallen soldiers on Saturday afternoon, as players paused for Armistice Day.
And as minutes silence’s were impeccably observed up and down the country, some fans couldn’t help but notice the club mascots stood, respectfully, alongside their team-mates. From giant rabbits to crocodiles – and even Gunnersaurus bowing down his head from afar – mascots took part in the silence.
One account on X, formerly known as Twitter, joked: “It’s the biggest weekend in the football calendar. Keep your eyes peeled.” The hilarity of the mascots joining in on the silences has taken social media by storm – with fans flocking to platforms to share the snaps.
Daily Star Sport has a look at some mascots sticking out like a sore thumb from the Premier League to League Two, there was no shortage of mascots bowing their heads.
Peter Burrow and Posh
Peterborough Town mascot, incredibly named Peter Burrow, dropped his trusty carrot to observe the minute’s silence. He was joined by Princebuild mascot Peebey for their 5-0 win over Cambridge United on Saturday afternoon.

One big robin with the Robins
Whaddney the Robin linked arms with the Cheltenham Town squad ahead of their clash with Wigan Atheltic in League One. Whaddney watched his side draw 1-1 after falling behind early doors thanks to an own goal.

Hiding in plain sight
Harrogate Town made the trip down the M1 to play Wallsall on Saturday, and they did so with their mascot Harry Gator. Blending into the fans, with members of the Royal Legion, Harry has a shocked look on his face, for some reason.

Doing an Andre Onana
Fred the Red turned away from the Manchester United squad, during the minute’s silence, as Andre Onana did during the week as Bruno Fernandes slammed his penalty past Kamil Grabara in the Copenhagen goal in the Champions League.

Gunnersaurus
