Fans spot error in statement as West Ham announce transfer of Mohamed Kudus

West Ham have announced the impressive signing of Mohamed Kudus – only for fans to spot an embarrassing error in their statement.

The 23-year-old has joined the Hammers from Ajax for a fee of just under £40million to become the club’s latest signing of the summer transfer window. He scored 19 goals and provided seven assists in all competitions for the Dutch giants last season, including goals against Liverpool and Napoli in the Champions League.

Kudus’ arrival follows hot on the heels of the acquisition of Konstantinos Mavropanos from Stuttgart. However, amid a busy transfer window, it appears the Greek defender has already been forgotten about.

The Hammers’ statement announced Kudus as the club’s third signing of the summer, with Mavropanos’ omission from the release being spotted by fans.

The statement read: “The 23-year-old joins the Irons on a five-year contract for an undisclosed fee, becoming the Club’s third major summer signing following his former Ajax teammate and Mexico international Edson Álvarez and England midfielder James Ward-Prowse.”

In response, one fan said: “Great signing this, but 3rd new signing? Sure Mavropanos is over the moon you’ve forgotten about him already!”

Hammers fans will certainly be excited about the arrival of Kudus, who said: “I’ve been dreaming to play in a league like this since I was a kid. I’ve been dreaming of this moment and I’m so happy to be here. But it doesn’t stop here, I want to keep going.

“I try my best to entertain the fans as I think that’s what football is all about. I’m just here to do my best and help the team. I’m really happy to be here. I will fight for the badge. I can’t wait to get started.”
