Fans have poked fun at beleaguered Chelsea after the Blues were finally given the green light on a £40million shirt sponsorship deal.
The Blues have been playing without a shirt sponsor since the start of the season as the Premier League vetted their deal sports data company Infinite Athlete. According to The Telegraph, the tie-up has been formally approved, meaning the company will appear on the front of their shirts soon.
The deal is reportedly worth in the region of £40million a year, with an official announcement by the club expected imminently. Little is known about Infinite Athlete, which has just 7,000 followers on X (formerly Twitter).

It’s bio on the social media platform reads: “Infinite Athlete creates a single technological foundation across all major sports, upon which innovative sports technology and products are built.”
While many Chelsea fans have welcomed the belated news, other supporters have taken it as an opportunity to mock the club following their abysmal start to the season. Alluding to the team’s run of three games without a goal, one quipped: “Infinite goal droughts.”
Another joked: “Infinite transfer budget more like.” One Chelsea fan bemoaned: “They should back out as why would any company want to sponsor a mess like our club?”
Another asked: “Any news on why the PL took over 2 months?” One fan, with a hint of sarcasm, commented: “Yeah!!! More money to spend on kids!”
Next up for the Blues is a home clash with high-flying Brighton in the Carabao Cup. Ahead of the game, Mauricio Pochettino insisted he wasn’t coming up mount pressure from the club’s owners, who have splurged more than £1billion since taking over at Stamford Bridge.
“It’s less hard than when we were in Southampton and Tottenham, trust me,” he said. “Believe me. The only thing we are missing is scoring goals, because the team is playing, if you see our first few months in Southampton and Tottenham, I think we are playing much better.

“We are doing much better here, but we are missing the most important [thing] in football – to score. But it’s not harder than the previous experience. It was different [at Tottenham]. The transformation was with us, in the way that we found the squad, with the club, we were working in six months, one year to change and design.
“Here, the plan was already made, and we arrived here and we tried to develop this project. When I arrived here, the plan had started to work. Now I am part of the plan. Of course I am responsible here also like in Tottenham, but I think it was a little bit different.”
