Former Rangers striker Michael Mols has announced that he has undergone an operation on a brain tumour in Amsterdam.
The 52-year-old, who played for Rangers between 1999 and 2004, announced the news of his operation on Instagram. Mols posed in a hotel bed with his head bandaged and held two thumbs up as he moved to assure his fans he was okay.
Mols posted the picture of him in hospital to Instagram, thanking the hospital staff for taking care of him. He wrote: “Brain tumour operation, done it! Next step: recovery, giving 100%, staying positive! Everybody who took care of me or look after me from Amsterdam UMC, THANK YOU!”

The Netherlands international received plenty of well wishing messages from former clubs and team-mates. Former club Feyenoord commented: “On behalf of all of Feyenoord: lots of strength and a prosperous recovery, Michael!”
FC Utrecht also sent him wishes, saying: “Wishing you a prosperous recovery on behalf of everyone at FC Utrecht, Michael!” While ADO Den Haag said: “Best of luck with your recovery Michael. We're thinking of you.”

Former Rangers team-mates Sasa Papac, Peter Lovenkrands, Pedro Mendes and Craig Moore were among those who all sent their support for Mols in the comments section as well.
Mols joined Rangers in 1999 from FC Utrecht and scored 45 goals in 126 games before leaving Ibrox in 2004 and returning to Utrecht as a two-time Scottish Premier League title winner in 2000 and 2003 under Dick Advocaat and Alex McLeish. He also lifted the Scottish Cup twice and the Scottish League Cup twice.
Mols retired in 2009 after a two-year spell at Feyenoord where he won the Dutch Cup in 2008. He also played for Ajax, Cambuur and FC Twente in a career which saw his only move outside of the Netherlands once, taking him to Rangers – which proved to be by far his most successful.
