Pochettino believes Chelsea are 'building something'
West Ham first-team coach Kevin Nolan has offered Eden Hazard the opportunity to have a trial at the London side, despite the winger announcing his retirement on Tuesday. The ex-Chelsea star revealed on social media that he had been forced to hang up his boots and ‘listen to his body’, though many believe that he has plenty to offer on the pitch if he was able to get himself up to speed.
After writing himself into the history books in the Premier League, Hazard struggled for both form and fitness at Real Madrid. Over the course of four years at the Santiago Bernabeu, the Belgium international never truly made an impact at the club and left many confused as to why he didn’t leave sooner and get his career back on track.
During his time in England, Hazard was one of the best players in the league and helped Chelsea to two separate title successes. Thus, some have been left pondering whether the 32-year-old would still have something to offer elsewhere if he was able to bounce back to match fitness.
West Ham coach Nolan is among those to show an interest in potentially throwing Hazard a lifeline just 24 hours after his retirement post, telling talkSPORT: “I’d have the Hazard of Chelsea at West Ham, yeah. I’m sure if he wanted to come and trial we’d, I mean, I’d certainly be willing to. I don’t know about the gaffer [David Moyes]. But I’d certainly want to trial him!

“Some of the best years in the Premier League, he’s been part of and some of the best goals. It’s sad that at 32 he’s decided to bow out in all honesty because I believe someone of his calibre of play could play at the top level for plenty more years.”
Hazard had interest from Saudi Arabian sides as well as from MLS outfits when he left Madrid to become a free agent, but ultimately opted to wind down his career rather than pursue another challenge that could intensify his recurring injury problems.

However, Nolan believes that a spell away from football could prompt the ex-Lille star into having a change of heart and U-turning on the decision. The Hammers coach continued: “I wouldn’t be surprised if we got a little bit of a reverse on that in the next six months to a year.
“I just think at 32, he’s just put out that he’s retired. There’s been so many times, I remember when [Paul] Scholes done it. Then he got a phone call from Sir Alex [Ferguson] and he was like ‘Oh yeah, I will come back’. I just think something like that could happen with Hazard because someone is probably willing to give him the opportunity to say ‘Go on, come in and play for us for six months’.”
