Manchester United star Alejandro Garnacho has been blasted by former professional footballers and pundits for his antics ahead of FC Copenhagen’s missed penalty in the Red Devils’ 1-0 win in the Champions League on Tuesday.
The Danish side were awarded a spot-kick in the final minute at Old Trafford after a foul by Scott McTominay.
But Jordan Larsson was denied by a superb stop from Andre Onana as the goalkeeper dived to his left to preserve United’s slender 1-0 lead.
After the game, footage showed that Garnacho had stamped on the spot using both of his feet before the penalty whilst referee Marco Guida was busy dealing with United’s furious players.
Former Arsenal midfielder Kim Kallstrom hit out at Garnacho for ‘childish’ behaviour.

Now, Mail Sport’s Chris Sutton and Ian Ladyman have described Garnacho’s actions as ‘awful’.
‘Just imagine if that was the other way round. And Manchester United needed to get back into the game. There would be, I mean, there would be outrage from Manchester United fans, wouldn’t there?’ Sutton said on the latest episode of Mail Sport’s It’s All Coming Up podcast.
‘I thought that was really, really poor from Garnacho. You know, I really did. Digging up the penalty spot is a totally different thing.
‘I think that that’s a really poor show from Garnacho and Manchester United and he should be called out for it. I hope Eric ten Hag deals with this in his next presser.’
Ladyman added: ‘I must admit, I don’t like it either. Some people say, oh, if you can get away with it, you should do it. There is a word for that kind of behaviour, which we can’t use without using our bleep machine, but it ends in “-housery”
‘I think that referees should get on top of that kind of thing. I still haven’t really got over what happened at the World Cup final the way that Emilio and Martin has put off the French players before the shootout.’
Onana’s crucial penalty spot earned United a vital 1-0 win, keeping their hopes of qualify for the knockout stages of the Champions League alive after consecutive losses in the opening two fixtures.

United are third in Group A with three points, six behind group leaders Bayern Munich but are now just one shy of second placed Galatasaray.
Erik ten Hag’s men travel to Denmark to face Copenhagen on November 8, before a trip to Istanbul three weeks later. United’s last game of the group is at home against Bayern on December 12.
Onana’s save also provided him with a massive boost after a difficult start to life at United following his £47million move from Inter Milan in the summer.
United are next in action on Sunday, when they host local rivals City in the Manchester derby.
