Brighton and Hove Albion head of recruitment Sam Jewell has been formally approached by Rangers.
The Seagulls have been lauded for their instinctive bargain buys who have gone on to become some of the best players in the Premier League. They signed Moises Caicedo for £4.5m only to sell him to Chelsea for a domestic transfer record of £115m, while also making huge profits on selling the likes of Marc Cucurella and Alexis Mac Allister.
Jewell had been pivotal in getting those signings over the line, as well as also signing the likes of Ansu Fati and Joao Pedro this summer. His work has most certainly not gone unnoticed as Scottish giants Rangers reportedly want to sign him.

The Glasgow side recently unveiled Philippe Clement as their new manager. He replaces Michael Beale, who was shown the door after starting the campaign with three losses in his opening eight Scottish Premiership games.
Jewell is believed to have been considering their approach, but instead opted to remain at the Amex Stadium. While there have been some heavy defeats: the 6-1 loss to Aston Villa and the disappointing 3-2 home loss to AEK Athens in the Europa League, Brighton are enjoying another exciting campaign under Roberto Di Zerbi.

They are currently residing in sixth position in the Premier League and are only one point away from the Champions League places. Jewell has been with the club since 2016, when he joined as a recruitment manager for the men’s under-21s team.
He then became the emerging talent manager in 2019, before he was appointed as the head of recruitment in February this year. He replaced Paul Winstanley, who was snapped up by Chelsea as their director of global talent and transfers.
Meanwhile, Clement is currently getting his feet under the desk at Ibrox. Considering his recent response to a question regarding potential transfers in January, it sounds like Jewell may have been busy if he joined the club. “Of course, there have been talks about it, but they are talks that stay between me and the board,” he said to Sky Sports.
“The first thing that is important now is for me and my staff to look at the squad, get an overview of what we think is necessary or not. Are there players that can grow or not? I hope that there a few very positive surprises for the club.”
