Brentford are considering making a late move for Marseille midfielder Azzedine Ounahi before the transfer window shuts on Friday.

The Bees have enjoyed a busy summer of recruitment so far but are looking to strengthen further in the remaining available days.

Thomas Frank is keen to bring in more midfield reinforcements and has earmarked Ounahi for a possible switch from France to the Premier League.

Brentford have now made contact with Marseille over the possibility of negotiating a deal for the 23-year-old Morocco international.

Ounahi caught the eye of new suitors with a series of standout performances at the Qatar World Cup that saw Morocco become surprise semi-finalists.

He started every game at the World Cup, except the third place play-off clash with Croatia, and impressed in a midfield alongside Manchester United target Sofyan Amrabat.

Brentford have enjoyed an unbeaten start to the new Premier League season, drawing against Spurs and Crystal Palace while beating Fulham, but have at times looked to have been lacking creativity.

The Marseille star could help solve that issue but has struggled to find consistency in recent seasons while playing in France.

He missed 12 games across both club and national team fixtures with a fractured toe last season that led to Ounahi spending 81 days on the side-lines.

The midfielder only moved to Marseille in January this year and has so far made just 12 appearances in all competition for the south of France outfit.
