Chris Eubank Jr has called out Canelo Alvarez after labelling his bout with Jermell Charlo on Saturday evening as ’embarrassing’.
Canelo secured a unanimous 119-108, 118-109 and 118-109 win over the younger Charlo brother to keep hold of his WBO, WBC, WBA and IBF belts in Las Vegas.
Charlo had a few impressive moments in the fourth and fifth rounds, but was knocked down in the seventh round and ultimately outclassed by the Mexican.
Eubank Jr was less than impressed with the fight and accused Charlo of turning up to ‘secure a payday’ rather than providing a competitive fight.
As a result, Eubank Jr thinks Canelo should fight someone like him as he ‘doesn’t want a hug’, he wants ‘a scalp’.

Eubank Jr took to social media immediately after the fight to write: ‘Someone who actually wants to win not just survive, secure a payday & give him a sweet lil hug after.’
The 34-year-old star went on to add: ‘This s*** is getting embarrassing. I don’t want a hug… I want that scalp!!’.
Eubank wasn’t the only boxer to label Saturday night’s fight as embarrassing. Other athletes cricitised Charlo for his performance against Canelo at the T-Mobile Arena.
Terence Crawford took to social media after the fight to say Charlo looked as though he was trying to ‘survive’ rather than win the bout. He also said the Mexican made Charlo look like a ‘baby cub’ in the ring.
Crawford’s comments came after Charlo called him out in the ring. The American said the following after his bout with Canelo: ‘Hey, I want to fight Terence Crawford. I can fight Terence Crawford in my weight division.’
Charlo went on to add: ‘I know he’s somewhere around this joint. I’ll fight Terence Crawford. He can fight Errol Spence or whatever he got going on, get that out of the way. I’m waiting.’
However, Crawford has shown no interest in fighting Charlo after watching Canelo dismantle the American on Saturday night. Speaking after the bout, Crawford said: ‘Jermell Charlo, you went out sad.
‘Didn’t even try to win, all you did was try to survive. You should be ashamed of yourself. Congratulations Canelo you made the so called lion look like a baby cub.’

Crawford was also heard saying: ‘Ok y’all I’m over Jermell Charlo he’s no longer on my hit list. He went out there and laid down and let Canelo spank him like he was his daddy with no type of resistance.’
Meanwhile, Eubank will be looking to return to the ring sooner rather than later after beating Liam Smith in their rematch.
The 34-year-old has fought for world titles before at 168lbs before so it’s not hard to imagine him stepping up in weight to face the Mexican.
