Man arrested in relation to Adam Johnson’s tragic ice hockey death

The police have arrested a man in connection with the death of Nottingham Panthers ice hockey player Adam Johnson. The man has been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter following the incident which saw Johnson’s neck cut in a game against Sheffield Steelers.

The incident proved fatal for Johnson which occurred during an Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL) game back in October. The tie between the Panthers and the Sheffield Steelers was stopped after the 29-year-old was involved in a collision.

After falling to the ground players from both teams formed a circle around the player. The game was swiftly called to a stop with the 8,000 fans inside the Sheffield Arena asked to leave.

Johnson’s death was confirmed the following morning which saw the day’s EIHL fixtures postponed. Tributes to the player have since been made, with fans, players and friends expressing their condolences.
