Emma Raducanu trains in the sun ahead of first match since Wimbledon withdrawal

Emma Raducanu has returned to training as she looks to continue her climb up the WTA rankings after making her name at Wimbledon this year.

The 18-year-old posted a training video on Instagram from the West Coast of the USA as she stepped up her preparations for upcoming tournaments.

The video shows the star practising intensely on a sun-baked court with the caption: "West Coast work outs."

Her next tournament is the Mubadala Silicon Valley Classic which takes place in San Jose, California.

The competition starts on August 2nd, and Raducanu is awaiting the draw to see who she will face in the opening round.

Raducanu hasn't played since retiring hurt from her round of 16 tie against Ajla Tomljanovic at the All England Club in early July.

She was forced to exit the match after suffering from breathing difficulties and dizziness at the end of the first set.

Raducanu's run at her first ever Grand Slam sparked tennis fever across the country as she became the youngest British woman to reach the last 16 of Wimbledon in the open era.

Having begun the competition on a wildcard, she captivated the public imagination with straight set victories over Vitalia Diatchenko, Marketa Vondrousova and Sorana Cirstea before eventually succumbing to Tomljanovic.

Having begun the year as the 343rd ranked player in the world, Raducanu's remarkable run saw her fly through the rankings, reaching a peak of 179 after Wimbledon.

The reasoning for her exit from the Grand Slam sparked a debate online, with John McEnroe and Piers Morgan being widely criticised for accusing Raducanu of quitting rather than finishing the match.

Morgan has become embroiled in a similar debate after condemning American gymnast Simone Biles for her decision to withdraw from the Olympic team final and the all-around individual event in aid of her mental health.

His comments have been picked up on by many on social media, not least Match of the Day presenter Gary Lineker who was quick to defend the 24-year-old for looking after herself.
