Tommy Berry loses appeal, misses out on riding on Hobartville Stakes day at Rosehill

Leading Sydney jockey Tommy Berry has forgone his excellent book of rides on Saturday after failing to have a suspension altered on appeal on Wednesday.

The Racing NSW appeal panel dismissed Berry’s appeal against the severity of a careless riding suspension he incurred at Warwick Farm on February 10.

Unfortunately I lost me appeal today witch means I will not be able to fulfil my commitments this Friday night or Saturday.
I would like to thanks trainers and their connections who still put me down at acceptances waiting for the decision it was very kind and loyal of you all.

Berry pleaded guilty to permitting “his mount to shift out when not sufficiently clear of Space Is Deep, resulting in that mare being taken out across the rightful running of Itasca, resulting Itasca having to be checked”.

Stewards handed the jockey a four-meeting metropolitan and provincial penalty.

The suspension encompassed this Saturday’s big Hobartville Stakes meeting at Rosehill where the premiership-contending rider had a host of big rides.
