Ben Stokes, Jofra Archer and Sam Curran have been rested for England’s upcoming ODI matches against South Africa, but will feature in the IT20 series.
Eoin Morgan’s side will depart for South Africa on November 16 and play three IT20s and three ODIs behind closed doors in a bio-secure environment at Newlands, Cape Town and Boland Park.
World Cup heroes Stokes and Archer will miss the ODI fixtures, having spent the best part of four months in various bio-secure bubbles, first with England’s Test and one-day teams and then at the Indian Premier League.
All-rounder Curran – who starred for Chennai Super Kings at IPL 2020 – will also leave South Africa after the conclusion of the IT20 series.
Last week, Archer admitted he was ‘counting down the days’ before he was able to escape bubble life and see his family.
‘It will be over soon – you’re just counting the days down until you’re free again,’ he said. ‘I might buy a calendar just to cross off the days so they feel like they’re going faster.’
