Raceday focus: Best bets, analysis for the Mildura program

Top form analyst Stephen Brassel runs the rule over the Monday meeting at Mildura and settles on five winning chances for punters looking to kickstart the week in style.

WEAVE THAT WEB (Race 8 No 7 – $4)

Improving Pierro filly which broke through at her second start proving too strong over 1450m at Kilmore. Stays in that distance range and only taking on Bm58 company with the 3kg claim for Mikaela Lawrence she’ll be hard to beat again.

BEAUTOX (Race 2 No 8 – $2.10)

Placed second twice and fourth twice in four starts and this looks her chance to break through. Drawn well and has the speed to be there for a long way.

CALIPARI (Race 6 No 1 – $3.20)

Well beaten last start at Morphettville but it was much tougher company than this. Has been around having raced in Sydney prior to that run and looks placed to advantage in Bm58 company.

McCAIN (Race 7 No 1 – $2.50)

Good at Swan Hill last start when chasing strongly to be beaten 1½ lengths fourth in Bm64 company. Drops in grade and looks placed to advantage against a moderate lot.

ALLGO (Race 3 No 1 – $15)

Still a maiden after 10 starts but shown improvement with two second placings in last three starts. Latest raced just behind the leaders and chased hard late to be beaten a length at Naracoorte. The inside gate a big plus.
