Raceday focus: Best bets, analysis for Cranbourne on Thursday

Herald Sun form analyst Brad Waters runs the rule over Thursday’s card at Cranbourne.

BEST BET

FRISSON (Race 9 No. 2 – $4.40)

Frisson was just nabbed by the handy Duke Of Neworleans first-up for can go one better second-up. He’s drawn perfectly for the tighter Cranbourne track and should get every chance.

NEXT BEST

BROWNIE (Race 2 No. 7 – $5)

The John McArdle-trained Coolshot has been well-backed but Brownie turned in a solid jumpout leading up her debut and is bred to enjoy wet tracks.

KILLARNEY KISS (Race 4 No. 8 – $5)

Killarney Kiss raced on the speed and was outsprinted but not disgraced over 1400m on debut. She’s back to 1300m for her second outing and should improve with race experience.

LIBERTUS (Race 6 No. 9 – $4.40)

Libertus is a promising type that wasn’t far away when resuming in BM64 grade at Sale. He’ll be fitter for that and scored impressively at his last run at Cranbourne.

VALUE BET

BONES (Race 7 No. 1 – $8.50)

Bones is unplaced at both first-up runs but he was beaten a half-length first-up at The Valley last time in. He has plenty of ability and races best in rain-affected ground.

THE JOCKEY

DANIEL MOOR

Daniel Moor had a long-priced winner at Sandown on Wednesday and has a deep book of rides on the 10-race card at Cranbourne. MAIORI (Race 1 No. 9 – $9), STAR SMASH (Race 5 No. 13 – $26), LIBERTUS (Race 6 No. 9 – $4.40), IT’S A RAH (Race 7 No. 12 – $31), HIT THE MOON (Race 8 No. 4 – $14), CEEJAY (Race 9 No. 1 – $8.50), CHUCK A LUCK (Race 10 No. 2 – $14).

THE WEEK AHEAD
