Arsenal director Josh Kroenke has told staff at the club that KSE will provide fresh funds into Mikel Arteta’s summer transfer budget, according to reports. Kroenke and his father Stan released a statement on Tuesday stating they will not entertain any offers from Daniel Ek to buy the north London outfit. Spotify co-founder Ek made it clear he wants to buy Arsenal following protests by supporters against owner Stan Kroenke last Friday.

Ek is leading a consortium which includes Arsenal legends Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp and Patrick Vieira.

The Swedish entrepreneur is a life-long Gunners supporter and tweeted last Friday his intentions to buy the club.

Ek wrote: “As a kid growing up, I’ve cheered for @Arsenal as long as I can remember.

“If KSE would like to sell Arsenal I’d be happy to throw my hat in the ring.”

Josh Kroenke spoke at a fans’ forum last week, stating KSE have no desire to sell.

ESPN claim the American held an internal phone call with around 350 members of Arsenal staff on Tuesday afternoon to reiterate that stance.

The call lasted 50 minutes, with chief executive Vinai Venkatesham also present.

Kroenke Jnr said they are not interested in listening to any offers from any party and are fully committed to helping Arsenal compete for major honours again.

He also said funds will be made available to strengthen Arteta’s first-team squad in the upcoming window.

KSE funded Arsenal’s late £45million move for Thomas Partey last summer and are prepared to add more to Arteta’s budget despite the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

Stan Kroenke only took full control of Arsenal in 2018 but has held shares at the club since 2007.

Arsenal’s decision to join the breakaway European Super League earlier this month, which they have since withdrawn from, was the final straw for many supporters.

However, it appears as though those fans against Kroenke’s ownership are set to be disappointed.

Meanwhile, journalist, author and Arsenal fan Philippe Auclair claims Ek would not be a better owner than Kroenke already is.

“I don’t think that Mr Ek is more acceptable than Kroenke at all, I don’t think so,” he told Off The Ball.

“I think he’s an even worse example of late-stage capitalism than Kroenke.

“Kroenke is almost an old-style capitalist, we know exactly what we get with Kroenke.

“With Ek we get the puff of the ‘cool brand’ which is even more exploitative than Kroenke’s operations.

“I speak here as a journalist, as an Arsenal fan and as a musician.”
