Out of favour Chelsea striker Timo Werner is reportedly set to consider his future at the Premier League club after ‘growing concerned’ over boss Thomas Tuchel’s decisions.
Werner joined the Blues in July 2020 for a near-£50million fee, but his career at Stamford Bridge has struggled to take off.
The German scored just 12 goals in 52 games in all competitions last term, with Chelsea signing Romelu Lukaku for a club-record fee in a move to boost their goalscoring.
The arrival of Lukaku has pushed Werner out of the team, with the 25-year-old unable to find a place in Tuchel’s 3-4-2-1 formation this season.
He has made just three starts so far this term and is yet to open his Premier League scoring account for the year.
In fact, his solitary goal came in the Carabao Cup visit of Aston Villa, while he was even left on the bench as Tuchel’s men chased an equaliser at Juventus on Wednesday.
And according to the Daily Mail, his struggles to break into Tuchel’s plans means that he is ready to consider his future in the capital.
The report states that he is “committed” to making his career with the club a success and remains keen to fight for his place in the team.

Worrying Chelsea stat shows Thomas Tuchel tactics may have been discovered
But with Lukaku so obviously the first-choice striker, Werner is said to be likely to assess his options ahead of next season if he cannot secure a regular place in Chelsea’s line-up.
The striker is also understood to have a “growing concern” about Tuchel’s decision to push him out to a new peripheral role.
Lukaku has scored four goals in his first eight games back at Chelsea, so Werner is unlikely to push the Belgian out of the team directly.

Tuchel could of course change his system, though a switch to a 3-5-2 formation which incorporated both Werner and Lukaku did not go to plan against Manchester City.
If Werner does indeed depart the Mail report that a return to the Bundesliga is his most likely option, with his reputation still “intact” in his home country despite his recent struggles.
