Italy kicked off their 2022 World Cup qualifying campaign with a 2-0 win over Bulgaria in Sofia. 

Roberto Mancini’s men took the lead two minutes before the break when Andrea Belotti was fouled by Daniel Dimov and the Torino dusted himself off to put the Azzurri ahead from the spot.

The game was wrapped up late in the second half when Manuel Locatelli scored just his second goal for the national side, curling home sumptuously from 15 yards out after being set up by Lorenzo Insigne. 

Italy next face Lithuania on Wednesday, while Bulgaria travel to Northern Ireland the same day.
