Tuchel’s savage response to Christian Pulisic amid Eden Hazard comparisons

Thomas Tuchel had a savage response after being asked about the comparisons made between Christian Pulisic and Eden Hazard.

Chelsea are one step away from a first Champions League final since 2012 after a 1-1 draw against Real Madrid on Tuesday in Spain.

It means the Blues have a vital away goal to take to Stamford Bridge, with either Manchester City or Paris Saint-Germain awaiting them in the final.

And fans can thank Pulisic for that after a brilliant goal at the Alfredo di Stefano stadium where he rounded former Chelsea keeper Thibaut Courtois before firing past Raphael Varane and Nacho Fernandez.

The American's arrival coincided with Hazard's departure from Stamford Bridge back in 2019, who left a legend after seven years at the club.

Due to Pulisic's size, position and dribbling ability, comparisons were drawn up between the two and those only grew after he took Hazard's old No. 10 jersey last summer.

Tuchel was uncompromising, though, when it came to sympathising with the Chelsea winger.

In his press conference, he savagely said: "Well, he took his number so now he has to live with it!"

It comes as Pulisic hits top form for the Blues at just the right time with four goals in his last five appearances, including his crucial strike against Real Madrid and a double vs Crystal Palace.

With Chelsea aiming to finish in the top four of the Premier League, this purple patch could not come at a better time.

The London outfit also have their sights set on an FA Cup triumph with Leicester to face in the final, meaning this could be a very successful season if all goes their way.
