Tottenham are understood to be discussing a number of potential swap deals involving Tanguy Ndombele, according to reports. Spurs’ record-signing, who arrived for £55million from Lyon in the summer of 2019, now looks set to depart north London as technical director Fabio Paratici works on manufacturing the player’s exit.

Ndombele’s challenging and turbulent Tottenham career reached a new low on Sunday afternoon against Morecambe in the FA Cup, when he stormed straight down the tunnel after being subbed by Antonio Conte in the second half.

The Italian was far from impressed by Ndombele’s performance – among others – and nor were the Spurs crowd, who began to boo the midfielder as he sulked in reaction to Conte’s substitution.

He was in no hurry to leave the field despite Tottenham trailing their League One opponents in the second half – although they did eventually go on to win 3-1 courtesy of goals from Harry Winks, Lucas Moura and Harry Kane.

Now Spurs look set to try and shift the former Lyon man with Roma said to be keen on a deal.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham are currently trying to propose the player to other, unnamed clubs as part of a swap deal.

With funds currently limited, Spurs are keen to maximise their chances of landing top targets this month – even if that means including the likes of Ndombele in negotiations.

Yet he is not the only player Tottenham are actively looking to sell.

Romano also adds that Spurs are keen to shift £27m flop Steven Bergwijn before the transfer deadline.

The Dutch international winger arrived from PSV Eindhoven two years ago, scoring on his debut in a memorable 2-0 Premier League triumph over Manchester City.

Ajax are believed to be keen on bringing Bergwijn back to the Eredivisie, where he was a major hit with arch-rivals PSV.

However, there has been talk in Holland that Ajax may need to sell David Neres first in order to pursue the move.

Although Conte is understood to be in favour of selling Ndombele, he did encourage his player to “change opinions” following the incident against Morecambe.

“This type of situation, they are in football,” Conte said after the match.

“You have to be good to change the opinions. I was a player and it happened sometimes to me that someone was unhappy with my performance.

“This is our life. It’s OK. We have to continue to work and try to be better next time.

“We have to know very well that if we perform well, the fans are happy. If you don’t perform well, the fans are not happy.”
