Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho and his coaching staff have been blown away by how good Sergio Reguilon is, according to reports. Reguilon joined Tottenham from Real Madrid in September for a fee of £27million. His arrival was overshadowed by the confirmation of Gareth Bale’s return to the club on a season-long loan on the same day.
Real gave a hint to Reguilon’s ability by insisting a buyback clause was inserted in any deal.
The La Liga club have until the summer of 2022 to re-sign the Spain international.
Manchester United wanted to sign Reguilon but were not prepared to settle for Real’s demands.
The 23-year-old has made five appearances so far under Mourinho, one of which was as a substitute.

Football Insider claim Mourinho and fellow coaches at Spurs have been amazed by the player.
The report says words such as “phenomenal” and “brilliant” are regularly used to describe Reguilon at Tottenham.

Reguilon was set to be third choice at Real behind Ferland Mendy and Marcelo, so seeked out a move away from the Bernabeu.
And last week he insisted the presence of Mourinho at Tottenham played a big part in him choosing the north London club.
“He is a world-class manager and he was very important in my decision to come,” Reguilon told Sky Sports.
“There was a broad market but as soon as I heard of Tottenham’s interest, it was simple.
“It was a big deal to leave my country, my league and my family, but it has worked out well.
“Since I arrived here, the truth is the club has surprised me in a very good way. The training facilities, my team-mates, everything. The stadium is insane. I have really enjoyed it so far.”
Reguilon said he also sought advice from Bale before deciding to join Tottenham.
“He told me what it was like at Tottenham,” Reguilon added.
“It was helpful for me to come here with someone who was already a team-mate. I could ask him things, like how certain things were going to work.
“The truth is he helped me a lot and so have the others.”
