Said Benrahma 'to meet with Brentford this week to discuss future'

Said Benrahma ‘to meet with Brentford to discuss his future as £25m move to West Ham looks set to break down for tricky winger before Friday’s transfer deadline’

  • West Ham are chasing Brentford winger Said Benrahma before Friday’s deadline
  • The Hammers had agreed a £25million for the tricky Algerian winger last week
  • But reports have claimed that a deal for Benrahma has now broken down
  • The Algerian is set to meet with Brentford in the comings days to sort his future

Said Benrahma is set for crisis talks with Brentford in the coming days as his move to West Ham appears to have stalled, according to reports.

The Algerian winger was one of the top players in the Championship last term and reports last week claimed the Hammers had agreed a £25million deal, which included £17m up front with the Bees.

Yet despite a medical for Benrahma reportedly being arranged at the Premier League side for Wednesday, the deal looks set to collapse ahead of Friday’s transfer deadline for domestic transfers.

A move taking the winger from west to east London has reportedly collapsed this week

West Ham are said to be prioritising a deal for Bournemouth striker Josh King, who is available for £18million this week.

And according to The Mirror, Benrahma is set to meet up with Brentford director of football Phil Giles upon his return to London in a bid to force through a move to England’s top-flight.

The 25-year-old is currently on international duty with Algeria and was a substitute in his country’s 2-2 draw with Mexico on Tuesday night.

Benrahma was expecting to head straight to east London to complete his move but, as it stands, is heading to west London to prepare for Brentford’s match with Coventry on Saturday.

The same report says the winger is unhappy with not being granted a move to a Premier League side so far, with Brentford unhappy about the financial aspects of the offers they have received.

The 25-year-old netted 17 goals and registered ten assists last season and was part of the thrilling ‘BMW’ front line for Brentford alongside Bryan Mbuemo and Ollie Watkins.

He helped lead the Bees to the Championship play-off final, where they lost off to Fulham at the beginning of August.

Though Benrahma has barely featured for the Bees since the 2-0 Wembley defeat due to transfer speculation, though has made two substitute appearances for the west London side against Millwall and Preston North End this term.

The Algerian also showed the damage he could do to Premier League defences by scoring twice in Brentford’s 3-0 west London derby win over Fulham in the Carabao Cup a fortnight ago, which remains his only start of the season so far.

Brentford have already lost striker Watkins to Premier League side Aston Villa in a £33million deal, with the young Englishman scoring a first-half hat-trick against Premier League champions Liverpool earlier this month.
