Saha “gutted” Man Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer isn’t targeting Edinson Cavani

Manchester United icon Louis Saha is gutted Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is not targeting Edinson Cavani.

The Uruguay international is a free agent after his contract at Paris St-Germain expired.

He leaves the Parc des Princes a true legend, scoring 200 goals and becoming their highest ever goalscorer.

The 33-year-old is a free agent and has been linked with a move to Argentina as well as Benfica.

And even Leeds United have been eyeing the veteran striker, but ex-Red Devils striker Saha believes he can still do a job.

Cavani had been linked with a transfer to Old Trafford in the past but does not fit Solskjaer's ethos of signing young players.

It has left Saha baffled, who admitted he is gutted he will not see Cavani in the Premier League in the famous red kit.

He told Football Index Podcast: "I think Manchester United are missing a trick by not signing Edinson Cavani this summer.

"I’ve followed him for many years and I’m gutted there doesn’t seem to be an interest there.

"For me, Cavani would be the best fit this summer.

"Cavani has a great eye for goal and his leadership would be a great asset.

"He has qualities that are very difficult to find on the transfer market."

United have been linked with a host of players over the summer as Solskjaer bids to take them back to the top.

A disappointing defeat to Sevilla in the Europa League showed the need to build more and the Norweigan has several targets in mind.

Jadon Sancho remains the top priority but the chances of a deal being struck are getting slimmer and slimmer.
