Roy Keane slammed Manchester City defender Kyle Walker during their clash against Liverpool, branding him a ‘car crash’.
Walker got caught on the wrong side of Sadio Mane and clipped the Reds winger in the box, prompting referee Craig Pawson to point to the spot.
Mohamed Salah dispatched the penalty to put Jurgen Klopp’s side in the lead at the Etihad, before Gabriel Jesus grabbed an equaliser after 31 minutes.
Speaking at half-time, United legend Keane ripped into Walker for continually making costly errors.
When asked how Mane earned himself a penalty, Keane told Sky Sports: ‘Because he’s up against an idiot.
‘Kyle Walker, people tell me he’s playing well, I don’t think so.
‘I think this guy is 30 years of age, international player, he’s a car crash, keeps making these types of mistakes and rightly punished for it.’
Former City defender Micah Richards disagreed with Keane’s assessment of Walker, insisting he was just punished for gambling on which way Mane would turn.
‘He’s been in good form, I think Roy is taking it a little bit overboard there,’ Richards said.
‘He’s one of City’s best players but he gambles there, he should’ve just waited.
‘He gambled that he was going outside and before you know it, Mane was there and took him down.’
