Cristiano Ronaldo and Luka Modric were both in full agreement over who the best young player in the world is – and Manchester United fans will love their answer.
As part of the Ballon d'Or ceremony, several other awards were handed out during Monday night's event in Paris.
They included the inaugural team of the week award, given to Chelsea, and the Ballon d'Or Feminin, which was won by Barcelona’s Alexia Putellas.
But also receiving an individual prize was the best young player in the world – where Barcelona won again through Pedri.
The 19-year-old had a phenomenal year with Los Cules and Spain that saw him land the Kopa Trophy, beating Borussia Dortmund ace Jude Bellingham to the award.
However, neither Ronaldo or Modric would have been happy with the result with the duo failing to make the Spaniard their top choice.
In fact, the United frontman did not include Pedri in his top three at all – instead voting for his Red Devils teammate Mason Greenwood.
Making up the Portugal international’s list was international pal and Paris Saint-Germain ace Nuno Mendes and Borussia Dortmund playmaker Gio Reyna.
Modric agreed with his former Real Madrid teammate by placing Greenwood at the top of the list, while Pedri did make his trio.
His Barca rival came second while the Croatian put another Englishman in third with Bellingham.
Greenwood failed to make the top three in the Kopa Trophy with Bayern Munich ace Jamal Musiala beating him to bronze.
As captains of the national sides, Ronaldo and Modric get to vote in the award – that began in 2018.
Across the 2020/21 campaign, Greenwood continued his goalscoring antics and furthered his claim as a regular in the United squad.
He made 52 appearances across all competitions, netting 12 in the process after cementing a spot on the right-wing.
Despite the 20-year-old’s form, he actually had a better season the one before when he scored 19 in 51 matches.
