Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ‘dreams’ of a front three of Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Jadon Sancho.
The Norwegian showed great faith in both Rashford and Martial last summer by selling Romelu Lukaku for £72m, a move that enabled Mason Greenwood to also get greater game time.
Though United have felt like an injury away from a crisis for much of the season, their attack has still been prolific with Rashford, Martial and Greenwood contributing 47 goals between them.
Odion Ighalo has been added to give more experience to the frontline but the glaring addition needed is on the right wing, where United have been without a consistent right winger for nearly eight years.
Solskjaer believes Sancho is the man to fill that role and that would enable the Norwegian to select his ‘dream’ forward line of Rashford, Martial and the England winger.
Dortmund are willing to sell the winger this summer and had placed a £120m price tag on the 20-year-old before the coronavirus pandemic forced European Leagues into suspension.
The pandemic is set to have a devastating effect on club finances across the world but Dortmund will not lower their price as they know United are one of the few clubs with the finances to get by.
Solskjaer is confident of agreeing a deal and United will offer Sancho the coveted no.7 shirt.
Beyond that, Ighalo is expected to join in a £15m deal and the club are also interested in Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish.
Villa value him at £70m but that price could be lowered given the pandemic and the club’s battle for Premier League safety.
