Ralf Rangnick makes decision on outcast Jesse Lingard’s future at Man Utd

Ralf Rangnick has reportedly made a decision on the future of Jesse Lingard at Manchester United ahead of the January transfer window.

Lingard has made just one appearance under the new United interim manager and has not played a minute in the league since he took over earlier this month.

The England playmaker is understood to want to leave the club next month due to his lack of opportunities at Old Trafford so far this season.

He is one of a number of players who could leave in the new year, along with Anthony Martial, Phil Jones and Donny van de Beek.

The Mirror report that Rangnick is happy for the club to allow Lingard to leave in January.

Lingard's United contract is up at the end of the season, meaning this would be the last chance to receive a fee for letting him leave.

He could, however, still leave for free as he is able to sign a pre-contract agreement with a foreign club from January 1.

Aston Villa and Newcastle United have both been linked with the 29-year-old midfielder, while West Ham United are also said to be interested.

Who should Jesse Lingard sign for in January? Let us know in the comments section below.

Lingard enjoyed a successful loan spell at West Ham during the second half of last season, scoring nine goals and providing five assists in 16 matches.

If he does not leave in January, then Lingard will be able to sign for any club as a free agent next summer, with his deal expiring on June 30.

As for teammate Martial, he and his agent are understood to have informed the club of his intentions to leave Old Trafford in January.

The French forward still has over two-and-a-half-years remaining on his current deal, which expires in the summer of 2024.

Therefore, the 26-year-old is still expected to cost potential suitors in excess of £30million, with United's Champions League knockout opponents Atletico Madrid among those interested.
