Paul Pogba has opened up about almost fighting former teammate Ravel Morrison during an intense training session at Manchester United.
The duo came through the ranks at United’s Carrington training ground and both were considered two exceptional midfield prospects.
However, France midfielder Pogba recalls nearly coming to blows with his English teammate after he was kicked in a training session and “smashed” his fellow academy product in retaliation.
Speaking on the UTD Podcast, Pogba said: “So I was training and obviously everyone knows how good Rav is with the ball.
"He was dribbling [past] players. I took the ball from him and he got angry a bit and kicked me.
"I couldn’t speak English so I looked at him and [thought] ‘that’s okay, I’ll wait until you get the ball’ [laughs]. I smashed him.
“He started talking to me in English and I responded in French. You know, ‘Okay we will see after in the changing room. Okay, no problem. I’m not scared of you’.
“After, he came to me and hugged, you know, and, since then, we’re very close. It’s a strange story and funny but that happens a lot in football and now we’re very good friends.”
Since the incident, the pair’s careers have travelled in very different directions. Pogba moved to Juventus and enjoyed fantastic success in Serie A before returning to the Red Devils in a £90m move in 2016 and winning the World Cup with France in 2018.
