Gabby Agbonlahor tears into out-of-form Jadon Sancho for ‘passing backwards’ and lacking confidence in Man United’s draw at Chelsea, as pundit insists the £73m winger is a ‘MILLION MILES’ away from England’s World Cup squad
- Gabby Agbonlahor believes three players will be frustrated with Jadon Sancho
- Luke Shaw, Anthony Elanga and Cristiano Ronaldo are believed not to be happy
- Sancho has not hit the heights that were expected from him at Man United
- Agbonlahor thinks that the Red Devils winger is very low on confidence
Jadon Sancho is believed to be frustrating Luke Shaw, Cristiano Ronaldo and Anthony Elanga with his poor performances and negative attitude on the wing for Manchester United.
The English winger was hooked by manager Erik ten Hag in the 52nd minute during the 1-1 draw against Chelsea on Saturday. Despite the rest of the team playing well, Sancho was unable to make much of a difference.
Former Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor believes that his lack of form must be annoying his three teammates.
Jadon Sancho has not performed as Man United would have hoped since he joined the club
He told TalkSPORT: ‘I just want to speak about Sancho because when I watch Man United, I look at Antony, I look at [Marcus] Rashford, I look at [Bruno] Fernandes, and they look like they want to take a player on and want to do something and take responsibility in the attacking third.
‘Sancho, he gets the ball and passes it backwards. If I was Luke Shaw, I’d say, “stop passing it back to me. I’m giving you the ball so take someone on”. At Dortmund, he was doing it every week.
‘His confidence is that low, does he feel like he doesn’t have the speed or the trickery to get past someone?
Sancho was replaced by midfielder Fred in the 52nd minute of the match against Chelsea
‘He’s being brought off after 52 minutes for Fred. Fred was unlucky not to start because he did very well last game but it just shows that they’ve had to play Fernandes up front for the last 35 minutes.
‘Rashford went to the left and Antony stayed on the right because Sancho can’t perform.
‘How many times do you have to play him? If you’re Ronaldo you’re probably thinking “how many chances is this guy going to get?” Elanga, how many times is Sancho going to get the chance to play for Manchester United because he’s not performing and he’s a million miles away from a chance to play at the World Cup.’

Luke Shaw is suggested to be frustrated as he plays behind Sancho as has to cover for him
Cristiano Ronaldo has been dropped following poor attitude over his lack of game time
Despite Sancho’s poor showing, the Red Devils still came away with a point after Casemiro’s late header cancelled out Jorginho’s penalty. Manager Erik ten Hag believed that a draw was a fair result between the two Champions League hopefuls.
This season Sancho has three goals and one assist in his 14 appearances in all competitions, which is not enough for the club that spent over £70million on him last summer to sign him from Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund.
Since joining the Red Devils, Sancho has not got close to the output that he managed in Germany. For Dortmund, the 22-year-old was one of the most exciting young attackers in Europe as he managed an incredible 50 goals and 64 assists in 137 games.
