Osimhen issues savage Twitter response to "a******" after jibe at Napoli star

Usually, players tend to fear less about what they say on social media once they have hung up their boost, but Napoli striker Victor Osimhen is an exception.

The Nigerian centre forward, who is watching his country play at the Africa Cup of Nations from the comfort of his own home, has taken a ‘no nonsense’ approach with online trolls on his Twitter account.

Osimhen was unable to feature for the Super Eagles as he recently sustained a facial injury that has meant that he was unavailable, however, his teammates seem to be coping in his absence.

Nigeria beat Mohamed Salah’s Egypt 1-0 on Tuesday thanks to a goal from Leicester City forward Kelechi Iheanacho.

Osimhen has still remained on the sidelines despite not being at the tournament as he labelled an internet troll an ‘a******’ on Twitter on the morning of the match.

The account that tweeted the initial piece of abuse to the 23-year-old has since deleted their message, but one would assume it was abusive given the nature of Osimhen’s reply.

The striker wrote: “Lol, just like your father waster sperm giving birth to an a******’ like you” followed by a peace sign.

Of course, the response raised eyebrows and has led some to criticise Osimhen given that he is in the public eye and supposed to be a role model to youngsters all over the world.

However, the player has stood by his statement and retweeted one of his previous messages which read: “I can post whatever I like on my page, if you don’t like it, kindly block me!

“I can post what makes me happy without insulting no one, I know not everyone likes me and that’s good but one thing I won’t tolerate is coming to my own page to say sh*t (I will definitely insult you too).”

Some found the funny side of Osimhen’s message, and his antics could be coming to England as the striker has been linked with a move to Chelsea this month.

The Nigerian forward has been tipped as potentially replacing Romelu Lukaku at Stamford Bridge, who has spoken publicly about his desire to move back to Inter Milan due to the tactics being deployed by Thomas Tuchel.
