Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants a right winger and a central midfielder this summer once the club complete a deal for striker Odion Ighalo.
The Nigerian has impressed since a shock loan move from Shanghai Shenhua and United are keen to make his move to Old Trafford a permanent one.
That’s expected to cost around £15m and that’s considerably less than Solskjaer had budgeted for a striker this summer, meaning there’s more leftover to strengthen other areas of the squad.
His two priorities are a right winger, with Jadon Sancho of Dortmund deemed the perfect signing. However, United are likely to have to smash their club transfer record to sign the England star as Dortmund are looking for around £120m.
But perhaps of more surprise will be that Solskjaer is seeking another central midfielder. According to the Times, the Norwegian wants to bolster his midfield even further after the acquisition of Bruno Fernandes in January.
It could suggest that Paul Pogba’s time at the club is up and that a midfielder will simply be his replacement but nevertheless United have looked far stronger in the middle of the park in recent months.
Jack Grealish has been touted as a replacement for Pogba but his future could rest on Aston Villa’s bid for safety.
The 24-year-old is rated at around £70m but his value would likely take a significant dip should Villa be relegated.
