Newcastles first marquee signing personally negotiating his move on free deal

Newcastle United are now finally free to use their riches and sign players as the January transfer window has opened, and their first marquee signing is already attempting to negotiate a move.

Eddie Howe is in urgent need on reinforcement to avoid an embarrassing relegation to the Championship, and the injury to Callum Wilson has only increased the pressure on Tyneside.

Many high-profile stars have been linked with a move to Newcastle following the club's sensational takeover last year, but Howe was quick to issue a 'realistic' approach this January.

However, they could be on the verge of making their first marquee signing, with the star personally negotiating a move.

Newcastle are reportedly seriously interested in offering Aaron Ramsey an escape route away from Juventus, where he has only made five appearances all season.

Howe is in need of an experienced midfielder to add balance in the centre of the pitch, and Ramsey could be the ideal signing as he is reportedly eager to move away from Juventus are return to the Premier League.

According to Sport Mediaset, the Welshman has ‘not trained with the rest of the squad for some time’, and he is no longer included in Massimiliano Allegri’s plans.

Because of this, Ramsey will ‘personally negotiate his transfer with Juventus’, who are willing to let the 31-year-old leave the club for free despite there still being 18 months left on his bumper deal.

Ramsey signed for Juventus on a huge deal in 2019 after leaving Arsenal on a free deal, but the move hasn't been a success and Newcastle could offer him a way out while being one of the few clubs willing to match his £230,000-a-week salary.

If anyone is willing to sign Ramsey, Juventus will reportedly let him go for free in order to save 18 months worth of wages, and put the money recouped to good use elsewhere.
