A new Philippe Coutinho plan has been devised by Barcelona boss Ronald Koeman, who arrived this summer.
The Dutchman left his post as manager of the Netherlands to take up the Nou Camp hotseat, a club he spent seven years as a player.
But he has joined a team in crisis, though the first hurdle has been cleared after Lionel Messi retreated his transfer request.
However, offloading the deadwood at the club now represents another problem with Barca needing to balance the books.
One player that looked destined for the exit door was Coutinho, who spent last year on loan at Bayern Munich.
The Brazilian joined Barcelona for an eyewatering £142m back in January 2018 but his time in Catalonia has been a nightmare.
It has led to intense speculation over his future, with Arsenal a possible destination.
But Koeman is set to give the playmaker a new lease of life this upcoming season.
The ex- Everton manager wants to see more of Coutinho and is prepared to hand him a role in the first-team, according to Marca.

That would seemingly rule Arsenal out of a move for the Brazil international, who were keen on a loan.
As well as the Gunners, a number of Premier League sides were interested in the midfielder's services.
